AI-generated content must be labeled as such for EU audiences. Applies to any film distributed in the EU that uses AI-generated images, video, or text.
WGA 2026 MBA — Takes Effect
The ratified WGA 2026 Minimum Basic Agreement becomes effective. Companies must notify WGA before licensing scripts for GAI training. Semi-annual AI meetings required.
Cannes 2026 — Festival Season Opens
Cannes has expanded its AI disclosure guidelines. Official Selection now asks for detailed AI usage documentation.
CA AB 2602 — Consent Enforcement Continues

SAG-AFTRA 2026 TV/Theatrical Agreement Takes Effect
The ratified 4-year TV/Theatrical Agreement takes effect July 1, 2026 (through June 30, 2030). New requirements include: "articulable business reason" for performer scanning, "significant additional value" standard for synthetic performers, digital replica data security requirements, and arbitration-backed enforcement for violations.
EU AI Act — High-Risk System Requirements
Extended obligations for high-risk AI systems take effect. While most film AI tools are general-purpose, any biometric or profiling use triggers high-risk classification.
